Today's Dr. updates

Went to the doctor this morning for my weekly check-up. Heartrate sounds good, measuring fine (once again, I forgot to ask what the exact measurement is), but there is no dialation whatsoever. Dr. Munro's med student did the honors and holy cow... I think he's got some bedside manner to learn yet. One word: OUCH!!!!!!!

Part of me was hoping for something when I went in today, BUT I guess I'm ok with it, since I still feel like I have so much to do around the house still.

Speaking of the house, I don't know if I'm truly in the "nesting" stage right now, but I certainly am cleaning & trying to get things ready. I've re-organized several kitchen cabinets (a few more need to be done still), cleaned & re-organized the laundry room, and of course, have been working tirelessly on preparing her room.

My mom & dad came for an impromptu visit this weekend and helped hang up the new shades & the name frame that Ann gave us, so that's nice to have that done. Yesterday I washed all of her bedding, boppy cover, changing pad cover, and lots more things, raised the mattress up, re-organized her closet, and I think that's about it. Still have a few things left to do in there, but I think I might take a break from it today.

There you have it... the few updates we have. Happy Tuesday!

Has it really been 5 years?!??!?!

That's the question I asked myself this morning. Today is our 5th anniversary!!! It's been a great time and I know I can't wait for the next 5, and the 5 after that, and the 5 after that, and well, you get the picture :o).

Like any good wife, I will be supporting my husband in his other job... coaching. Yeppers, our 5th anniversary will be spent at North High School watching Sean's team play. I have to say though, that I LOVE watching Sean coach, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy Anniversary Sean. I love you!!!!!

28 on the 24th

My plan was to do a wordless Wednesday today with preggo pics, but we did not get that done. Want to know why? Well because it was my birthday and I was just too busy for pictures! It started with Sean waking me up and giving me a BEAUTIFUL necklace...

(the one on the left). Then I took two of my students out to lunch (most everyone knows, but I share a birthday with Leon. He turned 10 today!!!). After that, I came home to take a much needed, very relaxing nap. Ahhh... it really was nice.

After the nap, Sean took me out for supper at Red Robin. MMMmm..mmmmmm!!! Super yumm-o! But it didn't stop there. Oh no, Mr. Lynam had more plans for me. Check it... we went to a MOVIE!!! I have told him for the last 4 years I want nothing more on my birthday than a good ol' date night. I'm so glad he finally did it :O).

So yeah, we went to see... ready for it???? Transformers 2! I know... not exactly what some of you would think screams date night for your wife's birthday, but I liked the first one when it came out and well, it takes me back to the days of playing with my brother's transformer toys that *ahem* I struggled with transforming. Oh well...I digress. The movie? It was actually pretty good. A lot more action than the first, a bit more violent than the first, but it was good.

All in all, it was a wonderful birthday. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that this was my last birthday without kids. Good thing we got in that last date night!!

36 week check-up

Today was my 36 week doctor visit. They did a LOVELY group B strep test... such an enjoyable time. He said I'm measuring good (whatever that means), her heartrate sounds wonderful, and he assured me that as long as I drink water and sit in the shade, I can continue going to Sean's baseball games on these scorchingly hot days.

A few days ago, I was called out by my best friend/sister Katie asking where my latest preggo pics were. Umm... haven't taken any, but I will find a way to post a new pic or two of me soon.

Pretty lame post today, but that's all I've got. Until next time.

Hello new garage door

So Friday will be our 5th anniversary and nothin' says lovin' like a new garage door, right?!?!? That's what we thought. HA!! I wish!!!

Anyway, the repair man showed up at 8:30 this morning and was out of here by 10:45. Here are some pics of the work today.

Our old garage door. Blehh!!!
The new door being assembled. Poor guy that had to do it... it was a smidge hot.
Ahhhhh.... here it is. The new & improved garage door.
The 2nd best part? It seals... COMPLETELY!!! You see, our old garage door left a lovely gap at the bottom (on my side) and at the top the entire way across. Not this one.
Though I hate spending money on household things like this, I'm glad that we did it. The 1st best part??? Keelyn's room is directly above the garage and now it is so quiet that I'm hoping it won't disturb her while she sleeps.
I plan on putting a picture of the entire house up later when it's not so blazingly hot outside.

Happy Birthday Larry

Today is Larry's (Sean's dad) birthday!
Hope you have a great one (and that you can find plenty of air conditioning to enjoy it in!!)

Happy Father's Day

Though he may not be a father yet... Keelyn and I got Sean his first Father's Day present. Much to his dismay, it was not tools :(. Instead, we got him a lovely picture of old Yankee Stadium. Now I just have to find the perfect spot in manland to hang it :).

Also, a great big Happy Father's Day to my dad!!!!!!! And... a great big Happy Father's Day to Larry, Sean's dad!!!!

And who can forget to say Happy Father's Day to all the rest of the dad's out there. Hope you all had wonderful days!!!

A Friday surprise...

While I was finishing up some very important paperwork, I got a phone call. I know, amazing right? I was surprised to get this one!! It was my sister-in-law Ann---columnist, author, editor, publisher, and all around do-it-aller of The Daily Nellis. She was in West Des Moines finishing up wedding dress shopping for her sister and she said she wanted to bring me something. A girl can't turn that offer down, right?

Sooo... 20-30 minutes later brings Ann, her mom, and her friend Amanda to the house with a present for me. I was so shocked by the present that I was probably rude when they first walked in (sorry if I was!!!). Want to see what she brought? Here it is...

Isn't is so super awesome?!?!?! They (Ann & my brother Jason) have one of these for their kiddo, Owen, and I was/am in LOVE with it. Now we have our very own!!! It's a bit hard to make out some of the graphics from my picture, but it's various things that she took pictures of to form the letters to spell Keelyn. The Texas touch would be the Y... it's a Longhorn from the football stadium. Seriously, how fun is that?!?!
AND it just so happens that I was needing something to go on the last wall of her room. I'll just add this to the list of finishing touches that need to be done to her room.
Thanks so much Ann! See you and the rest of the fam in a month when you come to visit!!

A little bit of this...

...and a whole lot of that. Wow... I have some catching up to do, don't I?

WARNING: A VERY, VERY LONG POST!!!

Let's start with Saturday. The baby shower was super fun and as I've said before, Keelyn is very blessed. Sean likes to call her spoiled, but I prefer blessed. Lots of toys, TONS of clothes, and plenty of love. Unfortunately, there are no pictures :o(. I know, I know... you're disappointed in me. Sorry. Just know it was a great morning.

While I was off having fun, Sean and several friends were starting the shingling process. The old shingles were ripped off by 9:30am and the tar paper started going on. Progress didn't move as quickly as all had hoped, but hey, that's life, right? Mom helped out by picking up ALL of the shingles in front of the house, and some of them in back (pretty much because they were smushing my plants!!!). As for me? I used a magnet and picked up nails. Super important job, right? I sure thought so :). By Saturday night, Sean was super sore, and I was super sunburned. Should have put on sunscreen. Oh well... it's better now :).

[Sorry... I can't get this picture to turn!!! Just tilt your head... that's it... now you can see it :)]

Sunday meant more shingling and more picking up nails. Unfortunately, Sean's muscles weren't moving all that well, so progress was a bit slower. Poor guy... he got all of it done except for a 3 foot by 4 foot (or so) section and he just couldn't muster up any more strength to finish. That meant more clean-up, and since it was just the two of us, it took a bit longer. I got clever and used one of our snow shovels to scoop piles of shingle shards in a pile which Sean would then pick up. Ahh... the power of teamwork. HA!

Monday morning, Sean slept in (hmm... wonder why?) and I heard this very loud, BANG!!! I looked at the 20 ft. dumpster in our driveway thinking someone was using it. Nope. Went to Keelyn's closet for fear that all of the goodies made her shelves fall. Nope. Sean got up and went to the garage... hmm... the door wouldn't open. Then I looked up and asked a very simple question, "Was the spring on the left always in 2 pieces?" Seriously, I was asking truthfully! Like I pay attention to that stuff! The answer? I'm sure you can guess. No. And they're not supposed to be. Soooo... a few phone calls and several hours later (I passed these hours by putting away EVERYTHING from the baby shower..woohoo), we found out that not only do we need new springs, but we need a new garage door :(. Dang... there goes our savings. Oh well... at least the new shingles will go nicely with the new garage door. Monday will be the big day for the door install. I'm sure I'll snap a few pics of that, too.

Monday night was a baseball game... and WOOHOOO!!! North won a game!!!! Sean was very animated during both games. I thought he was going to get kicked out, but alas, I was wrong. Here's a pic of the scoreboard to prove it :).

As for today? Baseball practice, thank you note writing, a bit of relaxing, finishing the final patch of shingling, AND I put together our stroller and installed the car seat & base in the van.

Whew!!! That's all for now. You're super glad, right? That's what I thought. G'night blogosphere :o).

Our Upcoming Weekend

This weekend, Sean and several of his friends will be doing this...

to our house.

While he and the men are doing that, I will be doing this...

and then this...

Unfortunately, there will be none of this...

Saturday night will look something like this...

Why? Because I have reached a new stage in my pregnancy. The uncomfortable to sit, stand, or lay down stage. Keelyn has made it painfully, excruciatingly, obcessively lovingly clear that her foot (at least that's what I think it is) being in my right lung/rib cage is her most favorite place to keep it. Not that I'm complaining, but I'm kind of excited for that "drop down" position thing to get here!!!
Hope you all have a happy weekend :o).

Summer time

I am OFFICIALLY on summer break!!! Today was the last day of training/work days for school and I am SOOO ready for summer! You would think that I would take it easy and relax, right?
WRONG!!!
Tonight, I put together our new travel baby swing and have it sitting in the living room. It's my pathetic attempt to get Bogart & Edgar ready for the big change in 39 days (or so we hope). Isn't that little countdown tool the best?
Tomorrow? Lots of to-do list things, such as:
*call the insurance company
*call some pediatricians to set up interviews (if you live in this area, PLEASE give me the name & # of YOUR pediatrician. Seriously, we have no clue)
*laundry
*send out thank you notes
*eat breakfast (I used to hate breakfast, now I la la la LOVE it!!!)
*clean the kitchen
*clean the dining room
*do more laundry
*unpack & put away gifts currently in Keelyn's crib
*shred old bills & papers
*eat lunch
*move lamp from Keelyn's room to guest room
*hang up some pictures in Keelyn's room
*mark on the wall where Sean will hang up wooden letters
*shower
*pack up cooler for baseball games
*pick up Emily & Leon to take to Sean's baseball game
*take Emily & Leon to THEIR Miracle League game
*take Leon home
I wonder if there's any time in there to relax???????? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Oops... I did it again

This is what Sean must have looked like 2.5 hours ago.

Why, you ask? Well... referring back to the title of this post, I locked my keys in my van... again.

Yep, that's right. I pulled up to my doctor's appointment tonight (which went splendidly well, by the way) and closed the door only to turn around and see my beautiful keys dangling from the ignition. CRAP!!

So I did what any normal, red-blooded wife would do. I called my husband and left him a message on his cell phone :). Then he called while I was finishing, so of course I switched over. I told him of my mistake, to which I will refer you back to the picture above. And trust me. I totally understand why. You see, Sean was supposed to play Dowling tonight but due to rain it got postponed, so instead, he was on his way to WDM to get his allergy shots. Today was the last day of his cycle (whatever that means) and he said if he didn't get them today he'd have to start all over (4 years... I don't think so). So I said I'd call a locksmith, no big deal. Nope. Sean, being the wonderful husband that he is, had already turned around on the interstate to go back home to get my spare key. Isn't he lovely?? Sooo... I sat in the doctor's office for awhile, then stood outside to wait for him to pull up.

Sure enough, my knight in shining Chevy showed up with my spare key, and we were both on the road to head back home. Once we showed up at our humble abode, I decided I'd make Sean's most requested supper these days to show my gratitude... minute steaks.

This is what Sean looks like now...

And since I have the dishes done, the kitchen clean, and am starting to relax for the night, this is how I look...
