Daycare... check!

We've had several people tell us that we are on top of things so far in this pregnancy, but you gotta be, right? Today, we made one of the most important decisions we will make as parents (or soon-to-be). We met our new daycare provider!

Her name is Holly. She and her family live less than 2 minutes from our home near Easter Lake. She does word of mouth work for teacher's children only. One of the best things is that during all of our breaks: Winter, Spring & Summer, she does not make us pay. That will certainly help us out a bit.

Now, we all now that Sean is Mr. Talker, right? Well, in the entire time that we were at Holly's house today, I think they talked baseball more than we talked daycare. You see... Holly's youngest son plays for Lincoln and played against Sean's baseball team this past summer. Turns out that her son was the kid who ended the worst game for Sean's team this past summer, too. Nice. Me, you ask? Yes, somehow I made a lasting impression on her, too. She says to us, "Who is the coach at North who has the boy with Down syndrome?" I told her no one, to which she said that during the second game of the season she saw a cute little boy with Down syndrome with his Mom who was talking to a coach. I started laughing...she was talking about me and one of the kiddos I do SCL with! She said that we made a "lasting impression" on her.

Call it fate? Who knows... but I call it one more item off our infinitely long checklist as soon-to-be parents.

Randomness...

I must tell you... I am feeling very proud of myself. Tonight was the second night in a row I made supper. I know, I know... those of you out there reading this are laughing your hineys off at me for saying this, but I feel proud of myself. I fought through the urges to throw up and did it. Granted, they were not the most elaborate suppers, but I did it.

I also think I had my first craving... maybe...

A baked potato with cheese and ranch dressing. I had one last night and it tasted so good, I made one tonight, too. Yum!!!

Like Parents, Like Baby

Whether the baby be a Miss or a Mister right now, it does not matter. It matters that they are stubborn... just like Mommy. And Daddy. We just got back from our appointment and our child is already playing games with us... yep, that's right, we could not hear the heartbeat today. As I was laying on the table listening to the emptiness, I kept watching Sean. Every time there was a different sound, his eyes lit up and his face got all excited!!! And then... the disappointment of no heartbeat. I think I was more sad watching HIM than about not hearing it myself. Fear not though, for we have another appointment on January 2 with Dr. Munroe himself to get another listen. The lady today said not to worry... it's common at 10 weeks to not hear it, and that by 12 weeks, we should definitely hear it.

Stubborn. Just like Mommy. And Daddy.

Our First OB Appointment

Tomorrow is the big day... our very first OB appointment!! I'm very excited for it, and I think Sean is, too. Both of our principal's are letting us leave school a bit early to go which is super nice of them. We've decided to go with Central Iowa OB/GYN since 3 of my best friends have recommended them very highly to us (thanks Angie, Kendra & Cheri)

Overall update... I'm still feeling sick :*(. I'm very much looking forward to January when I begin my second trimester and end this all day sickness stuff. I miss cooking supper at night, and I know that Sean misses eating it, too. Poor guy.

3 days...

No, the woman is not me, but that's what I looked like today.

3 days...that's the entire time I spent Christmas shopping this year. In years past, I couldn't WAIT to get into the stores to start getting gifts for everything. This year, well, it was pretty much the last thing I wanted to do. So Thursday night I FORCED myself to start, did some more last night, and walah! Today was the biggest day of them all, and I'm happy to report that I have everyone done. Now comes the wrapping, my absolute favorite part.




So here's my question: are you done? how long did it take you do to your shopping this year?

It's Christmas time in the city...

Finally!!!! It's beginning to look like Christmas in Lynamland!

As to my previous post... I jinxed myself. Yep, I knew it would happen. Apparently, so did Kendra :). I have been sicker than a DOG the past 2 days, which meant no decorating. But tonight I felt pretty good. I think it's because I forced myself to feel good enough to decorate the living room.

And... drum roll please........... pictures to prove it!!!

And the stockings were hung... (and yes, the stocking in the middle is for Bogart & Edgar, the dogs). Oy vey!
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree...

'Tis the time for fa la la la la-ing. I must admit, I do love the sight of our Christmas tree... all grown up and all. But I have to say, I'm looking forward to having some beautiful hand made decorations by our little one in the upcoming years.

Could it be over??????

I'm sure that by posting this, it OBVIOUSLY won't be over, but I am on a roll!!! 3 days without getting sick! Needless to say, I have been one very, very happy person. Tired, but happy. It's quite sad to say this, but I felt so good, that I was able to get 7 loads of laundry done today. I know, compared to all of you already Mom's, 7 loads of laundry is nothing, right? Right... but when I have done laundry over the past four weeks and gotten sick just from leaning over to put clothes in the dryer, doing 7 loads today without getting sick is a celebration for me!

So, you ask, "What are you doing to celebrate?" Well... I am going to put up the Christmas tree. In years past, I would have had that darned thing up for a week now. Sean already helped me move the furniture last weekend, but I couldn't bring myself to work on it. Perhaps I will post some pics of my celebration to share with all tomorrow.

On the up and up

Well the flu seems to have gone away, for the most part. It is still slightly hard to tell whether it is the flu I'm feeling today or if it's back to my plain 'ol nausea. I guess we'll see, huh?

And more good news... there was a message from our doctor on our answering machine. Two weeks ago I was experiencing some spotting so my doc had me get my quant levels checked. They had progressed nicely, and apparently are continuing to progress nicely. He says I'm still right on track with where I need to be. Whew!!!! Glad that's good news!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday... the countdown is officially on... 14 days 'til Winter Break!!!!!

Ugh...

This is me today... I have the flu. At first I thought it was just my morning sickness, until I threw up more times than I did last week. Bless Sean's heart, he got me some water to help keep my hydrated. Let's hope that resting all day will make me better.

The Last One...

As my family and I had our tasty Thanksgiving meal the other day, it got me to thinking... this is the last Thanksgiving that Sean and I will spend as a married couple without a child. Which brings me to think of all the other lasts we will be having...

--the last Christmas as a married couple without kids.
--the last New Year without kids.
--the last birthday's without kids.
--our last anniversary without kids.

Sad as it may sound with all of the lasts, it means that next year will start all of our firsts. I can't wait for those to begin!!!

Welcome to the world...

Yes, that's right... I have now joined the ranks of my fellow blogging friends and devised one to keep you up to date on the happenings in Lynamland.

The first update... Sean and I are expecting!!! Yes, that's right, you can refer to us as Mommy and Daddy beginning sometime around July 7th. We are both THRILLED at the news. Needless to say, it's been a crazy ride already.

We have known for nearly a month now and ya know... I think the instant you truly find out you are pregnant the symptoms come on loud & strong. For example... I never knew the smell of my husbands wonderful smelling cologne could literally make me drop to my knees... in front of the toilet. I know, too much information, right? Oh, and who knew that a person could truly justify taking an hour nap on their planning time on the nurse's cot at school?

Not that I'm complaining. Granted, some of the side effects are taking a toll on me, but I'm not letting it get me down. I am too excited to think about the miracle that is going on within my body.
