A whirlwind day...

First off, thanks to all of you well-wishers out there who have congratulated Sean and myself on our little baby girl! We are ECSTATIC with the news. Yes, I know I have previously mentioned our hope for a boy, but we couldn't be happier with the news.
**More to come on the story of the ultrasound in a minute.**

Yesterday was also the day I got word from Morningside College to tell me whether or not I had passed my Comprehensive Exams to be able to graduate with my Master's degree. Mom, Dad, CJ, and any other family/friends around on May 9th, get ready for a trip up to the family alma mater (how pathetic) in Sioux City to watch me WADDLE across the stage! Yep, that's right... I PASSED!!!! I can now say that after being in college (undergrad, 3 extra endorsements and a Master's program) for 10 YEARS, I am DONE!!!! I'm sure my Grandma Smitty would be proud that I carried on the M'side tradition, though, hate to say it... M'side is HORRIBLE!! Cheap, but horrible!!

The extra cash coming in will definitely help with Baby Girl Lynam.

Speaking of her, let's hear about how the ultrasound went, shall we?

Let's just say, I LOVE technology and feel like I'm kind of knowledgable about it (being an elementary tech specialist and all :). But the minute we walked into the dimly lit ultrasound room, I was amazed! So was Sean. First there was the slathering of the lovely goop. Nice. Then she puts the little tool on my belly and WAHLAH!!! There she is... our Lil' Lynam. Sean was so nervous/excited/antsy that he couldn't even sit down in his nice comfy chair to watch. Nope, not Daddy Lynam... he was standing up and wiggling all over the place! It was too cute!!

The tech, Jane, started through with her list of measurements and views she has to get. The spine looks good, head measurement good, abdomen measurement good, legs good... you get the jist, right? We're looking good here folks!! Then I see a shot that I say "is that the money shot?" to which Jane says "you want to know? I've known for quite a while now". Thanks lady!!! YES, TELL US!!! So she says "it's a girl" and proceeds to show us. Well... I am going to have to teach our little girl some MANNERS!!! She was not shy, not one.single.bit!!!!

Tears well up in Sean's eyes (mine, too) and well, we feel very blessed to say the least. Jane finishes up her measurements, has me move ALL over the place and is still unable to get a shot of her face. Darn her!!! FYI, my baby girl is mooning all of you when you look at me. Yep, she's stubborn all right... she's looking at my back. Sooo... there was no good shot of the face and not a straight on of the heart like they wanted. But we saw the heart, and we saw her switch the machine to dopplar. Holy cow!!! You could see the blood pumping in and out of the heart, and through the umbilical cord. Technology... it's amazing!!!

We finish up with Jane and off we go to see Dr. Johnson. He comes in and says all the pictures are looking good, then says that the ultrasound is showing a 10 day difference, which just so happens to be the margin of error. Well... he makes the final call (that's why he lives in a mansion) to change my due date... to July 17th! Yep, I'm due 10 days LATER now. We were actually quite relieved as our first due date was cutting it awfully close with baseball season. Can't interrupt those North High Polar Bears, now can we??? :) We go back in March for another ultrasound and hope that she'll show us her face.

Thanks again for all the well-wishes, and if you got through this post, CONGRATS!!! Just think... if this is how long the post is for the ultrasound, how long will it be for the birth?!??! We may have to do a mini-series of posts!!!
